Perhaps this is attributable to the Iron's weekend loss. They hosted Acrrington Stanley this Saturday just gone, and were very hospitable to James Beattie's side, allowing them to take 3 points and a clean sheet back to lovely Lancashire. I enjoyed that Mister Laws dropped a winger, then bemoaned a lack of crosses........
Back to the crowd issue. Perhaps all the Scunthorpe fans are pre-occupied with an exciting meaningless England;Germany friendly on the telly. Perhaps Scunny fans didn't hear Brian Laws' quote; "there's a lot at stake for both clubs." Or perhaps they did, and they are scared of a defeat and the loss of bragging rights.
Anyways, the fact that there won't be as many Scunny fans as we expected/hoped means we can more easily out-sing them.
Also, is it just me that finds the BBC previews and reports of Town games always manage to let themselves down? With pictures of ex-players, or getting our scorers' names or positions wrong? Well, this time around the mistake is a bit more subtle, and they didn't even bother with pix) http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24907517
(See if you can manage to spot the mistake in the first sentence of manager Paul Hurst's quote)
Scunthorpe likely XI vs Town; (with Syers cup-tied, and their latest loanee Noble-Lazarus unavailable)
Slocombe
Byrne Waterfall or Canavan Mirfin Dawson
Hawkridge Collins McAllister Esajas
Burton Winnall
The Town squad appears injury free, so no need to change things from weekend's Tamworth win.
McKeown
Hatton McDonald Pearson Thomas
Colbeck Kerr Disley Neilson
Hannah John-Lewis
This concludes our mini-preview, and I managed not to mention this lead story from the local rag; http://www.grimsbytelegraph.co.uk/Residents-join-councillors-petition-Peaks-Parkway/story-20094061-detail/story.html but am sure our friends at Cod Almighty, Too Good to Go Down, and The Fishy probably will.....
