Hi, I have been a Grimsby Town fan for over 30 years and a season ticket holder for 20 years. I work as an inspector with the Care Quality Commission. I live locally and have three children, two of whom also hold season tickets with the club.
I joined the Trust because I want to do everything I can to support the club back into the league. GTFC is in my blood and I feel the club is at a real turning point at the moment. Hopefully, we will keep up the push for promotion and also start work on the new stadium which I think is an absolute must if the club is going to survive.
My aim with the Trust is to work with the club to really understand what it is supporters want from the club. Yes, we need a new stadium and we need success on the field but right here and now we need the present stadium to provide the best match day experience possible.
We also need to throw our weight behind the youth set-up and support the grass roots football in the town. My father tells me stories about how Bill Shankly used to watch local matches on Bradley pitches each Sunday and pick out the best players; I really believe we need to develop our young talent as much as possible. I also think we need to look at how we as supporters, the club and local community all work together. There are examples up and down the country where the club is at the heart of everything that happens in local sport, not just football. That vision can become a reality with the new stadium.
I urge every supporter, whether a frequent visitor to Blundell Park or not, to get behind the club’s push for the stadium and it’s initiatives with the local community.
