Following a welcome home victory on Friday night against Forest Green, the Mariners are nicely set up for a trio of festive games against Macclesfield, Lincoln, and er.. Macclesfield again. Given that the latter two games are at home, and plenty of exiled Mariners should be back in the region visiting relatives, let's hope for a noisy vibrant crowd, and maximum points over the festive season.
A quick glance at the Conference table at Christmas shows that the Mariners are currently placed 4th, although we have a game in hand over the 3 sides above.
Statistically, GTFC have the stingiest defence, only 3 sides have scored more league goals, and our goal difference is second only to leaders Barnet. However, creative unbalanced fixture nonsense means we still have to play the leaders Barnet twice, and Macclesfield (2nd) twice, so depending how you look at it; we might currently be in false position as having played our 'easier' ties, or alternatively, those 2 may only be above us as they've not yet played us, and we are known for dropping points in the more 'winnable' games.
Oh, if you have any last minute Xmas shopping to do, or lots of ££££ to spend straight after Christmas; don't forget to try to do it via: http://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/mariners-trust/?t=Easyfundraising-lo as the Easyfundraising site enables free cash for the Trust ;-)
One of the highlights of 2014 for GTFC fans has to be the fantastic Christmas Message video. It is deservedly getting lots of positive attention in the national media, and is the latest of fab clips provided by the GTFC commercial team. We've even taught ourselves to attach it below....
