It seems to be an issue, this striker question, because strikers score goals, and goals win games. SImple logic.
Although there was a fantastic tongue in cheek post (I think it was...) on the Fishy messageboard along the lines of; we don't need a striker, we need 6 midfielders, taking it in turns to send one upfront and grab the goals. Quite. Of course. Why didn't we think of that?
Anyhow, Visit the usual sources; local rag, Fishy, TGTGD, Cod Almighty diary. Comments aplenty on the problem (lack of a free-scoring striker, lack of a Hearn replacement) and multiple suggested solutions. A common one is play Cook and Hannah.
I've also spotted this article which tells us that (http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/25827906), Appiah's success at Cambridge has been enough to earn him a further loan move into the league. Positives; Cambridge are denied a source of goals. Negatives; it shows how loanees, naturallly, use non-league clubs as a stepping stone to get another loan deal higher up the league, or to impress their parent club, or a bit of both. Just look at last season's Gtfc loanees and where they are now. The tale of Scott Neilson, GTFC to Luton to GTFC illustrates my point, particularly if we go up and they don't! Perhaps forget about Richard Brodie though....
Is there a domino effect? More good strikers in Leagues One and Two, must mean more chance of GTFC finding the someone is squeezed out....and want s to be involved in a promotion campaign. And whilst I make no predictions, surely those clubs close geographically like Scunny, Donny, York have it in their interest to assist, so we can take hundreds to theirs in league/cup ties?
FInally, 2 things; the Trust FA Cup Draw takes place tonight, so watch this space and your emails.
And an ex-Town defender scored the winning goal in the Premiership v Hull; here's his interview for Norwich TV; you've probably seen the goal ;-) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=40nXl421xbg
