As previously notified the AGM of Mariners Trust will take place on Monday November 3rd at 6.30pm in the Trust Bar at Blundell Park. A key item on the agenda will be the election of board members and with regard to this it is with regret that we have to announce that our chair, Chris Parker, has decided that he will not be standing for re-election. Chris has been clear from day one that he saw the role as something he was happy to do for 2/3 years and so he feels the time is now right to step down. Chris has played a major role in the resurgence of the Trust and on behalf of the board I would like to thank him for his fantastic leadership and commitment over the last 3 years. Although leaving the board Chris remains a big advocate of the Trust and will be actively supporting all of our events and initiatives going forward.
This development puts even more emphasis on the need for new people to put themselves forward to join the Trust board. We now have space for up to 4 more people who have the necessary time and commitment to help us build on the fantastic base we now have to ensure we continue to grow and improve going forward. We particular need more help with the ever increasing administration and also we need people who can not only identify new ideas and initiatives but can also see them through to a satisfactory conclusion. If you are interested please e-mail us at [email protected] as soon as possible.
Following the AGM, Terry Rudrum will take over as temporary chair until the new board, which will hopefully include some new members, will decide on a permanent replacement for Chris.
There will be an interview with Chris in the Grimsby Evening Telegraph tomorrow (Thursday 2nd October) www.grimsbytelegraph.co.uk
