One thing I've learned since writing Too Good To Go Down (http://toogoodtogodown.wordpress.com/) is that it's easy to sit behind the anonymity of a computer screen and whinge and moan. It's easy to sit in the stand and pass comment, judge the manager(s) on his signings and criticise the formations played. I've read enough message boards and social media posts to know anyone can feel brave when no-one knows your name. But as more and more people started to read the blog, and take it seriously, there becomes a responsibility to be constructive in both praise and criticism.
Winning the Football Blogging Awards has opened up many more doors than I could have imagined. As a passionate supporter of Grimsby Town I want to see them win on the pitch, but also be the best we can off it too. The Mariners Trust is in an excellent position to affect change. There are two members on the Board of the club representing the voice of every day fans like myself. I've always found the Trust board members approachable and understanding of any issues I've raised and I've seen they can help being positive changes. I've been able to see the hard work the members do to make the match day experience better, for example. When they invited me to join the Board of the Trust I couldn't say no.
As fans we all need to pull together to support the players on the pitch and help be the 12th man.
But we can all play our part off it too. We can encourage friends and family to join us at games for a start. It's easy to sit and moan. It's more difficult to stand up and be counted. If you're yet to join the Trust please consider doing so! - P.S.
