I admit I was amused to see Darran Kempson opening the score sheet at the wrong end of the pitch, and also wonder how exactly Nicky Law managed to accommodate Kempson and fellow ex-Mariners Bradley Wood and Nick Fenton in the same defence with last year's Wrexham skipper Chris Westwood in a back four, or more likely a back 5.

This helps the Mariners as it denies Alfreton their first opportunity to stretch the current 5 point lead they hold over us, whilst leaving them having played 5 games more than us. In fact Alfreton have played more than any other Conference side, They next play a week on Thursday, by which time, hopefully GTFC will have closed the gap by taking points from next Tuesday's trip to Forest Green.
So our next league game could see us gaining ground on Alfreton, while the next furthest up, Cambridge don't appear to have a Conference fixture until a trip to fellow playoff contenders Halifax a week on Saturday.
Funny old game, etc.,etc, as elsewhere Kiddy suddenly unexpectedly change bosses (www.harriers.co.uk), yours truly rants about ITV coverage of GTFC http://toogoodtogodown.wordpress.com/2014/01/06/itv-sports-fa-cup-coverage-is-quite-frankly-crap/ and our friends at thefishy have in place a prediction calculator for not just the Conference, but also Scottish Division Two if you like ;-) http://www.thefishy.co.uk/calculator2.php
