Statement from Mariners Trust Chairman Chris Parker
This is fantastic news for all followers of GTFC and for the first time in the club's 135 year history the fans will have representation at the top table.
To have two Trust members acting on behalf the fans, right at the heart of the decision making at Blundell Park was unexpected, but equally, very exciting.
The Trust couldn't be more delighted and hope that many more members will come on board to give both the Trust, and in turn the Club, the support that is needed to propel the Club forward.
Statement from Dave Roberts
Naturally I am delighted to be one of two Mariners Trust representatives to be co-opted onto the board of Grimsby Town FC . I have been a season ticket holder for over 20 years and attended my first match in 1966 aged 10. I am very excited about the prospect of supporters being able to have a huge input into the running of the club and it's future development.
I am in the lucky position of having time to commit to the Trust and the Club having taken early retirement from my role as Commercial Finance Controller at Young's. Hopefully I can put this time and business experience to good use for the benefit of everyone who has an interest in GTFC. We have already identified a couple of projects where hopefully we can add value and make some improvements.
I am very conscious that this position carries great responsibility in terms of representing not just the Trust but supporters in general and to that end I am very committed to understanding as many views and opinions as possible and having regular two way communication.
This is a great opportunity for the supporters of GTFC and I will do my very best to ensure we make the most of it.
Statement from Jon Wood
I am of course delighted and honoured to be one of the two Mariner’s Trust representatives to be co-opted onto the board of Grimsby Town Football Club. I have supported this club all my life. To have two representatives of the Supporter’s Trust on the board of a football club is fantastic and a great opportunity for fans to be part of the running of the club they love.
I am a local man, work as a Registered Nurse at the hospital, and have spent the vast majority of my life in public service. I attend games with my wife and our two children. I hope that my background and situation will help me to represent the views of fans in a slightly different way and influence accordingly. We have already identified some projects where hopefully we can be an asset and I look forward to getting stuck in.
This position is not about me and my views. It is about the representing the interests of all fans in a new and exciting way. I will be happy to chat to as many fans as possible and take on views and opinions, to truly be a supporter’s representative.
