So, tonight it is the GTFC Player of the Year event at the club, giving some of the players something to do midweek after that recently rare experience of not having a game or two to fit in.
The fixture congestion has subsided, and the first team look forward to a trip to Braintree, the final league fixture; Saturday at 5.30. That is followed by a couple of play off semi finals (this time next week and next Sunday) and then, perhaps typically of the Conference, there is a full 2 week gap before the actual Play Off Final for the 2 semi final winners.
as to who we play; I have shamelessly borrowed this from a message board;
IF WE FINISH 3rd then....
Thu 1st May @ 19.45 Away v Halifax or Gateshead or Braintree
Sun 4th May @ 16.30 Home v Halifax or Gateshead or Braintree
IF WE FINISH 4th then....
Thu 1st May @ 19.45 Home v Halifax or Gateshead or Braintree
Sun 4th May @ 16.30 Away v Halifax or Gateshead or Braintree
IF WE FINISH 5th then....
Wed 30th April @ 19.45 Home v Cambridge
Sun 4th May @ 13.30 Away v Cambridge
As for the Braintree game, GTFC have close to a fully fit squad for Saturday's fixture; only right back Paul Bignot has not been involved recently. Much will depend on everyone's fitness; how many need a rest, or need match practice. Lots of work for Messrs Hurst and Moore in particular then. Predicting a team for Saturday is almost anyone's guess. There must be 20+ players available; starting with the same sixteen as Easter Monday, plus Disley and Rodman could return, depending how close to fitness they each are, Bignot could be involved, Pearson unlikely to be in case he gets another booking. Dayle Southwell? Winfarrah, Charlesworth, Walker, Humble? Although we don't expect a Dartford-esque 10 changes, we didn't expect that many then either.
UTM!
